Field Closing Procedures

When weather for field conditions require closure of fields, CDYSL has explicit procedures on how clubs are to do this. The rules outlined here are excerpted from the Coaches and Managers Guide.

If it becomes necessary to close ALL Club Fields ONLY your Club President or the Field Coordinator identified on your club’s field commitment forms is authorized to close them - Individual coaches are NOT.

Notice of field closures must be called into CYDSL by your field coordinator before 4pm on Weekdays and 10am on Sundays.   If not notified by the above deadlines, field closures can only be handled at the field by the referee assigned to the game.  Failure to notify could result in significant fines and rescheduling fees. (See also Fines & fees section)

Once a club field is closed and/or determined to be unplayable, ALL games scheduled for the remainder of that day must also be cancelled.

How does my club close a field?

§   The field coordinator contacts CDYSL before 4pm on Weekdays and 10am on Sundays.

  Phone: 518-435-2325

Follow up with email to CDYSLOffice@cdysl.org

§   All field closures submitted by the above deadlines will be posted on the CDYSL website by 4:30pm and 10:30am respectively.

§   Your Field Coordinator is responsible for contacting all coaches in your club regarding the status of their club’s fields.

§   Home coaches are responsible for notifying the opposing coach ASAP - Please call early as some teams have as much as 1 ½ hours of travel time.
